Kids boxing classes here are for ages 6 to 12 and are strictly non contact. Children learn coordination, focus and the basics of boxing through games, bag work and coach pads, with no sparring at any point.
Is boxing safe for children?
In a non contact program, yes. Nobody hits anyone. Kids hit bags and coach held pads, never each other. Gloves and protective gear are provided, and a coach runs every class.
What age can kids start?
Six is the youngest age we take. At that age the focus is listening, balance and coordination. By ten or eleven, most kids are throwing clean combinations. At 13 they move into the teen boxing program.
What kids get out of it
- Focus. A round demands attention from start to finish.
- Coordination. Hands, feet and eyes learning to work together.
- Confidence. Built by getting better at something hard, not by being told they are great.
- Activity. The CDC recommends children aged 6 to 17 get 60 minutes of activity every day, including muscle and bone strengthening at least three days a week. A kids boxing class covers both.
Does boxing make kids aggressive?
In our experience, the opposite. Structured training teaches control, respect for the coach and each other, and when not to use what they have learned. Parents regularly tell us it helps with focus at school.
Class times and cost
Four classes a week: Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 PM. The first class is free. Family memberships include 25 percent off additional family members, and parents can join their own class in beginner boxing. See the full schedule.
